“Owen?” Cain mumbled, the name tumbling from his lips in disbelief.
Owen stood stiffly in his grasp, his red and gold eyes glaring with a mixture of mortification and irritation as he hit him again for good measure. His cheeks were a faint red, stark against his usually pale skin. The sight was so foreign to him, that Cain was unsure if the Forest’s poison wasn’t still making him imagine things. “Get a grip, Sir Knight,” Owen snapped, his voice hard with forced disdain. “If you’re going to make a fool of yourself, at least don’t drag me into it.”

Cain wasn’t sure what he expected to happen when Owen called him to his room, but in hindsight, he maybe should have known it would somehow result in him on a bed with a lapful of Owen. It wasn’t like he usually minded this development - not with the way having Owen lay on top of him in any way led to quite enjoyable activities - but something about the way Owen looked down at him with that eerie smile of his, told him that he probably should be at least a little bit wary of his intentions.

“Ah, yeah. That.” If his laugh sounded as strained and awkward as it felt to Cain, Owen made no mention of it. “The idea just came over me, had to share it immediately, haha…”
“Hm.” That was it. Owen went back to studying his lines and as Cain watched the moonlight shimmer and glisten in Owen’s hair, he gave up on denial. It should be him kissing in front of all those people, not Mithra.Or, Cain discovers his jealous side.

Which made it worse.Natsu is usually the clingy one. The one who drapes himself around her, slips into her bed without asking, makes himself at home without a second thought. Lucy's the one who startles at unexpected contact, who hesitates before leaning in. But when she drinks, something flips. She becomes more forward, especially with him, and he doesn't quite know what to do with that. Not because he wants her to stop...but because it makes something stir that he's not ready to name.

“A kiss shouldn’t always feel like a fight. It can also feel sweet.”
Sweet. Owen does chew on that word in his mind for a while. He does like sweets, it is probably the only type of food he actively goes out to seek. It is very satisfying to indulge in messy confectioneries, the sensation of sugar at the back of his throat and the leftover stickiness on his fingers only make him want to eat more and more. However, sometimes, eating too much of a sugary dessert can make him horribly nauseous. He felt the same type of stomach twisting nausea when Cain’s warm hands would lay for too long on his waist, or when he would kiss him slowly, cradling his face. So in some way, the kisses Cain was giving him were in fact sweet.

The hero of humankind, revealed as a hateful, detestful wizard who had been lying to them the whole time. And even though he'd tipped his hand and revealed he had magic, he still hadn't been able to protect them from the wicked wizard that had come to kill them all. He was a failure. He'd let them all down. He'd fallen from the heavens, and Owen had been the one to tear his wings off. And yet. And yet! He'd failed, and yet he'd persisted! He'd tried so hard to protect the humans who were going to hate him now, willing to risk his life for them! Owen had certainly planned on killing him at first, but he was enthralled now. He'd never met a storybook knight in the flesh before.
