Summary
Andrew Minyard liked routines.
Every morning before work he stopped at the same small café, ordered the same black coffee, and sat at the same table until it was time to teach his second graders.
Then the new barista started working mornings.
Neil was sharp-eyed, blunt, and far too observant for someone who claimed to just be making coffee. Andrew found himself tolerating his presence in a way he usually didn’t tolerate people at all.
And then one morning Neil disappeared.
Weeks later, he showed up bleeding on Andrew’s doorstep.
Andrew didn’t ask for trouble.
But apparently trouble knew exactly where to find him.
