Zhou Zishu catches a glimpse of a figure standing in the darkened opening, though it’s impossible to tell from this angle who they might be. Then the girl steps back as a flowing river of white cascades from the window. There’s so much of it that for a moment it really does seem like water flowing down, but he quickly realizes it’s not. It’s too pure white, and shining so brightly. Fabric, he thinks, perhaps even silk, but then the clouds shift and the sun emerges.
It’s hair. A shining fall of hair that the girl actually grabs hold of before she’s hauled up the side of the tower and into the window.

“You hadn’t seen him when you promised not to touch him,” she said bluntly and, well—fine, she had a point.
“I swear,” Zishu said, “that this man will live the life of a favored wife for as long as it’s in my power to protect him.”
That seemed to have stunned Wen gongzi, in turn, into silence. He openly gaped at Zishu. Luo Fumeng cleared her throat, giving Zishu a pointed look.
“And,” he said, making no attempt to hide his irritation, “I swear on the blood of all the men who died for me today that I will never make the slightest attempt to fuck him.”
At that, Wen gongzi stopped gaping. His eyes snapped up to Zhou Zishu’s with what looked like—anger?

“True,” Wen Kexing agrees sagely, his eyes turning dutifully forward. “There is only one pole here I’d like to wrap something around.”
Zhou Zishu is startled into an unfortunate bark of laughter. Wen Kexing grins like he won something. Smug bastard.
“Shut up,” Zhou Zishu says. “Just don’t talk again until we get there.”
Days before Zhou Zishu puts a plan in motion that will implode his life and probably kill him, he spends a lost weekend with a man he meets at a bar.
A year later, their paths cross again.

Wen Kexing gives him an icy little smirk that probably has sent lesser men running. “I would like to see you try.”
Zhou Zishu is not lesser men. He pushes himself upright. “As you say.”
Sometimes Wen Kexing has trouble asking for what he needs, sometimes Zhou Zishu has trouble offering it. Sometimes Wen Kexing makes it impossible for Zhou Zishu to give him anything less than exactly what he deserves.

Zhou Zishu works in law enforcement in the biggest city on the new planet, although his dedication to the law is questionable at best.
Perhaps the best example of this is the lustful man who runs the nearby noodle shop - the one who is almost certainly leading the biggest crime syndicate around.
With real chicken in his food though, and - although Zhou Zishu is reluctant to admit it - animal attraction between the two of them, well...Zhou Zishu may as well have never heard of Ghost Valley at all.

“My celeb... what is with this random question, Ah-Xu?” Wen Kexing asked as he turned to face his husband, his bewilderment clear on his face.
Zhou Zishu shrugged. “I'm just curious.”
Wen Kexing tilted his head to the side a little and pursed his lips before going back to folding their laundry. “And then what? You're going to drink a whole bottle of vinegar again? Don't think I've already forgotten that incident when we watched Cheng Qing Ling and I commented on how attractive Wang Yibo was as Lan Wangji!”
Zhou Zishu's ears tinged red at Wen Kexing's words and he threw his husband a sheepish grin. “I didn't mean to walk out in the middle of the episode,” he grumbled.
“You didn't walk out, Ah-Xu. You stormed out. Also, I couldn't sit properly for two days after you were done railing my poor ass! My students were all wondering why I was limping and I had to tell them I twisted my ankle playing badminton! Ah-Xu, I don't play badminton!” Wen Kexing huffed.
