Her head lolled over towards Holliday’s neck and she took a deep breath. The pretty sheriff smelled good—gunpowder, sweat, and tobacco. Her favorites.
“Uh oh,” she smiled dopily. Her fluffy tail began to wag.
“What?” Holliday’s eyes snapped up to the street looking for danger. Her free hand was already on her pistol.
“The beast got a whiff of you. And she liiikes it,” Silver said in a sing-song voice. “Time to let her out, ‘m afraid.”
“What? No, no no no, Silver!”
