“Ready to go?”
“I’ve been ready for a solid ten minutes, Buck. Yes, I’m ready. Let’s get to Costco before there’s too many people.”
Buck snorts, “Baby. It’s the middle of the week, this is the perfect time to go to Costco; it’s gonna be hella empty.” He opens the door and Eddie exits the house with a sigh.
“Famous last words, Buckley.”
“It’s 3pm on a Wednesday! I–” Eddie shows no sign of waiting so Buck takes it upon himself to lock up the house before heading over to the Jeep’s driver side, sliding in behind the wheel. “Who’s gonna be there on a Wednesday afternoon?”
“You never know, Buck. You never know.”

Summary
It’s a well known fact that Buck is a good guy. Everyone knows that. Hell: the LAFD as a whole probably knows how good of a guy Buck is. He did save a dozen people during the tsunami while he was off duty while he was recovering and on blood thinners. A feat that the 118 hadn’t been aware of until one year after the tsunami, when one of the victims spoke up and named him as Firefighter Buck. The LAFD had recognized him for his bravery and Buck? He’d brushed it off like it was nothing.
So yeah, Buck’s a good guy. A great guy. But does he know how great he is? You would tell him and he would probably brush it off and tell you he’s just as good as everyone else.
The 118 know this, of course they do, but it all starts to come into clarity for them on a
stormy day when Buck shows up to work looking like a wet dog and one by one, they notice the little things that Buck does for them.Or: a 7+1 where the 118 realize just how GOOD Buck is. Comfort, no hurt.

Summary
"And Bobby? It’s easy, Bobby will never be able to forget that day. Just like the day he lost his family, this one will forever haunt him. He will forever remember holding Buck’s body; he never held Robert Jr and Brooke's bodies, but he did hold Buck’s. He will never forget the terror he felt when he understood that Buck, his son, had died. He remembers wanting to drop everything and cry, but he had a team to take care of and lead."
