Ikigai: A reason to live, to exist, to breathe. A reason to wake up in the morning and sleep peacefully at night.

For Katsuki, new King of the Barbarian tribes, it has been many things in his life.

First, it was to grow into the best warrior of his tribe, enough to rival his father, and his mother the Queen.

Then it was to surpass her, win, and _become_ the King.

But above all, it has always, always been to find the lost dragons, and - as a sapling descendant with Dragon Magic running through his veins -bring even more dragon blood into his line by marrying one.

He accomplished the first two goals, and now, he is on the cusp of accomplishing another - it has all gone smoothly, according to plan. Until, that is, the tent flap opens on his wedding day.

“Well it's just…” Eijirou sits back up, scrubs at his eyes, and pouts. He rubs a hand up and down Katsuki’s thigh, petting him in that way he always does when he’s deep in thought. “It's been months and… I’ve… I’ve bred you so many times but still…”

“But still what?” Katsuki’s head is going to pop off if the idiot doesn’t just tell him what’s going on.

“You haven’t laid any eggs,” he wails.

Bakugou’s face scrunched up as he clearly waged some kind of internal battle before he deflated slightly, a long, annoyed breath forced from him. He plonked himself directly on the edge of Eijirou’s bed, huffing again.

Eijirou watched, waiting by the door of his own room as his bestie pulled several vile expressions, and then scrubbed a hand over one side of his face.

    “It’s bullshit.”

“I know. I know it is, man,” Eijirou finally moved closer, bending to pick up scraps of paper and errant rubbish from across his floor, dropping each piece quickly into the bin before setting it back to rights.

“…I was gonna pick that up, you know,” Bakugou growled, the deep vibration in the back of his throat something he couldn’t have achieved more than a few days ago.

    He’d begun his presentation.

    As an alpha prime.

“Because of the massive, unrequited crush I have on Katsuki!”

The table is quiet for one collective beat. Sero stares at Kirishima with genuine confusion.

“The unrequited crush you have…on your boyfriend?” He asks.

Kirishima freezes. Stares. “Katsuki isn’t my boyfriend.” He says.

He’s met with only more silence. All three of his friends look at him like he’s said something particularly absurd.

    “We’re not dating.” He insists.

Kaminari’s eyebrows furrow. He hesitates before he leans across the table. “Eijiro…” He says slowly, “...Are you sure?”

Bakugou had been going to BeansPot Coffee for a long time. A hole-in-the-wall coffee shop in the middle of the city, the place was a wonderfully well-kept secret – and that was exactly how he liked it. Which was why he was instantly on guard when he walked in one morning to see a new face standing behind the counter.

Well, actually, first he saw his hair. Stop-sign red and styled up into spikes. Between that and the way-too-wide smile that stretched across his face, he was almost hard to look at directly.

Too goddamn bright for this early in the morning.

Or, pro-hero Ground Zero had a morning routine that he liked perfectly fine, thank you very much. That is, until a bright-eyed new barista showed up to throw a wrench in it, one caramel latte at a time.
