Summary
Cypher cannot explain the frustration he's feeling right now. The amount of paperwork is unreasonably too much – And he's a workaholic! He had gotten off from one mission with no casualties (except a few injuries on the way) and had successfully stopped their clones from stealing all their radianites. When they came back, he was greeted with loads of paperwork on his desk as soon as he entered his workshop. He wants nothing more but to sleep before he could give himself some more stress to think of.
Fortunately, a surprising event happened inside the base and everyone seemed to enjoy this occasion. He had seen it in his homeland before but was never one to participate since it didn't interest him that much…. Well, maybe he does now.

“Because…” Amir wet his lips, the movement of his tongue mesmerizing Sasha as he looked to the side, pausing to think for a moment.
“...maybe I wanted to be alone with you.”
Sasha’s face flushed, and his mouth parted in surprise, heart caught in his throat as he waited for Amir to elaborate further, something that never came.
“Amir, I- you-”
“Shh, dear Sasha, listen to that.”
He stopped to listen over his own thumping heartbeat, hearing smooth electric guitar and soft drums filling the air between them.
“Do you want to dance?”

Sova hides his too-long teeth, tries his hardest not to listen to every human heartbeat near him, and regulates his strength to appear more human.
So when he begins to get sick, slowly losing control of his instincts and needing to drink with increasing frequency, his options are limited. He can either give up, exposing his secret to the rest of the Protocol and becoming ostracizedー or he can work through it by himself, retain his reputation and career without worry of being hunted.
Sova knows what the outcome will be. He will not fail.

Cypher caught the glint of Sova’s teeth in the dim light, longer-than-human teeth sharp enough to draw blood from his own lips. Fear crawled up Cypher’s spine, taking fluttering breaths that felt too loud in the silence of the room. Pinned in place by the hunter’s gaze like prey.
But perhaps that was where Sova wanted him.
