Summary
“Okay,” Ava said. “Why… would sleeping in my booth solve that problem?”
I don’t know, Caspar thought. Because being near you feels like being pulled somewhere. Because I feel in motion around you. Because I’ve never felt more still than when I’m sitting next to you. Because something about your presence makes me feel at ease. Because you can fall asleep anywhere and maybe it’s contagious.
OR
Caspar can't sleep. Ava can. Maybe she can help.

Summary
“What are you doing here?” he asks his niece when she starts squirming back out of his embrace, carefully setting her down. He almost asks if she ran away from home, because he knows it would make her giggle, but thinks better of it. “Tea party? And I wasn't invited?”
“She's hanging out with her uncle Eddie today,” Eddie says, leaning back on his hands. He's smiling when he looks up at Buck, a real smile, and his whole face scrunches happily when Jee-Yun crashes into his side.
Buck feels like he needs to look away, but he has no idea how.

Summary
It feels new, and good, and not just because it’s been so damn long since anyone has touched Eddie like this. It’s just—it’s Buck. Of course this is something they know how to do together. They’ve done just about everything else two people can do together; maybe this was always inevitable.
-
Or: Eddie and Buck start sleeping together when they're all stuck at Buck's place during lockdown. It still takes them almost three years to notice that they're in love.

Summary
Hen sighs. “Something had to be said before you idiots put us in mortal peril.”
“I’d never do anything to jeopardize our safety on a job! You know that Hen.”
“Maybe not on purpose,” Chim chimes in, “but, see, the thing is, when you flirt with our Buck, his brain turns off. He just bluescreens.”
“You’re flustering the poor boy, Eddie,” Hen adds. “And it’s making him dumb.”
“-er,” Chim adds.
“Wha- Buck isn’t flustered.”
Eddie is flustered. His face feels hot. He takes another sip of his coffee to give his hands something do to, but that only makes him feel warmer. Shit.
Hen levels him with the most deadpan look. “Last week he walked into a stop sign after you called him ‘big boy’ on a call.”
Eddie nearly spits out his coffee.
Or: the one where Eddie subconsciously flirts with Buck without realizing and Buck is actively trying not to have a heart attack at work about it

Summary
Eddie is all fucking over him.
He falls asleep with his body sprawled over the broad expanse of Buck’s chest and wakes up with his face buried into the skin of his neck. They watch a movie together on Eddie’s couch and Eddie practically sits in his lap, head tucked under Buck’s chin as he blinks at the screen. When they’re alone, Eddie can’t stop himself from peppering kisses to Buck’s lips and his cheeks and his forehead as Buck giggles and pretends to try and duck. Under the dinner table every night, Eddie will hook his foot around Buck’s ankle and make Buck duck his head into a flushed smile. And Eddie is always, always holding Buck’s hand—running errands and in their own bed and at the grocery store and across the console while Buck’s driving them to work.
Maybe he’s just in the honeymoon stage. Or maybe this is how he’ll always feel—like every second he’s not touching Buck is a second wasted.
