The Hungry Ones draw closer and their howls fill the corridors, yet she hesitates despite the imminent threat and the burden of her duty.

Disclaimer: the story was inspired by gothic horrors and mostly notably, the figure of Dracula. Stories about Dracula often depict him as a seducer and as such, I tried to keep this trope relevant in the setting. I do hope this will explain why the characters act the way they do.
