Small towns can be quite judgemental, holding your tongue was a skill that came naturally to those with secrets to hide.
Hiding from others made a lonely existence, and that, both Ifa and Ororon knew. They weren't close, not as close as they could be, or as they wanted to be, but the few fleeting moments they shared fueled great care for one another.
Helping others comes way more naturally for Ifa than it does to Ororon, but Ororon is determined to repay his favors, one way or another. He can only hope Ifa doesn't find out about his blood-sucking nature in the process.

Summary
Ifa was always one to count all his blessings, no matter how small or trivial. He didn’t have much care for grand and pompous things as long as he had Cacucu, his little vet clinic at the entrance to the Tlalocan, and his loved ones. Every act which others deemed 'heroic' Ifa simply considered a part of his day-to-day work: he is a vet after all, his profession hinges on saving the lives of Saurians, and by a long stretch, their human companions too.
Which is why Ifa finds himself at wits end when the Wayob bestows upon him the highest form of regard there is.

Summary
The most recent battle against the Abyss, though victorious, didn't leave Natlan and its residents entirely unscathed. Many people's homes have been turned to ruin, many peolple sustained life-long injuries, many people lost their loved ones in the fallout. And many, Ifa among them, find themselves unable to go back to normalcy.
And now Ororon finds himself caught up in the aftermath of it all.
