Summary
Kiara has something important to tell Pope, and Pope can't stop thinking about how awful everything is- just like, in general. Maybe when they're both stuck in a car together, feeling mutually miserable, they can finally find some semblance of happiness amidst the mess. Thoughts are thought, confessions are made, and maybe the true treasure really was the friends we made along the way.
Also known as, "If Pope is having the worst few days of his life, and Kie is having the worst few days of her life, then who's driving the car?"

Summary
Hak sat up, gasping. His heart was beating out of his chest and andrenaline poured through his veins. Still shaking, he tried to see where the princess was, but his vision was blurry. His eyes were wet. Slowly, almost comically so, Hak realised he was crying. His panic and confusion mixed together sickeningly- he hardly ever cried, and he'd never felt like this before. Was he having a heart attack? Is this how he'd die, sat in a forest without a single enemy nearby?
--
Hak has always been Yona's protector, defeating any enemy that tries to hurt her. Most of the time, it's easy for him. But one night Hak wakes up feeling more helpless and vulnerable than he ever has been, and finds out Yona is even stronger than he thinks.

Summary
Afterwards, Robert sags against the wall, grinning and panting, and says, “What is it with us and barns, ay?”
And he laughs. And Aaron looks at him, and it’s like the first time all over again. It’s like every time after that too. The flash of his teeth. The way his hair falls over his forehead. There’s a sheen to his skin from the sweat they’d worked up, freckles pale where they’re hidden under clothes, but Aaron can see them because he knows where to look. He could map each of them out blindfolded, even after all this time.
“What are you looking at me like that for?” Robert asks after a minute. His thighs are littered with red marks, Aaron’s handiwork. Some of them are sure to bruise. At least he won’t have to hide them this time around.
“I’ve missed you,” Aaron says in place of what he really means. But Robert’s grin turns soft, and Aaron is reminded abruptly that Robert isn’t John. Lying is pointless here.
At least Robert has the decency to not call him out on it.
“I’m right here,” Robert says instead. Somehow it’s worse.
You were here before, Aaron wants to say. And then you left.
Aaron and Robert start an affair. Again.
