Not because she’d been harmed, no, that alone would be too much for Caitlyn to bear the thought of. But, rather, because, sometime after the distant fireworks of New Year's Day had lulled them both to sleep, Vi had slipped out of her arms, packed her bags, and left without so much as a goodbye.
Her house key was all she left on the bedside table.
Seven and a half months had passed since then. Seven and a half months of unanswered voicemails, text messages left on read, and near-radio silence, other than a single message that sat, starred, screenshotted, and poured over more times than Caitlyn would care to admit.
