The best thing he could do for himself would be to rush out of the café and forget all about it.
Twelve years ago, a chance encounter occurred between one Fukuzawa Yukichi and a fourteen year old Edogawa Ranpo. Their paths crossed, but did not connect. Ranpo was left alone with nowhere to go and nothing to his name, save for the clothes on his back and a measly business card. Or he was, until bumping into none other than Mori Ougai, a back-alley doctor who claimed he could use an apprentice.
Eleven years ago, Fukuzawa Yukuchi intervened and took Yosano Akiko under his wing, preventing her from falling into Mori's custody. Staring back at the cold green eyes of the fifteen year old standing next to Mori, he felt sick. He would not let another lost child slip from his grasp and fall into the Port Mafia's. Continuing to work as a bodyguard, he brought Yosano with him and formed a formidable team that later grew into the Armed Defense Agency, a gifted organization built to help protect and defend the public.
Or: Ranpo stumbles into joining the Mafia, and Yosano is the founding member of the ADA.
