Instead of being rescued, Unit-01 fell through the Twelfth Angel, and was found by the a shuttle from the Migrant Fleet. In the five and a half years since then, Shinji'Ikari vas Shogoki, Galactic Hero, has saved countless worlds from the rampaging Angels. The bad news is that he has no idea how to get back to Earth. The good news is that he finally has the father figure he's looked for his entire life.
The better news is that said father figure is Urdnot Wrex.
But, Earth was still out there, chugging along, and it was time for a homecoming.

Kohga is extremely proud of the best idea he's ever had, of his quick thinking, of his fiendishness, of his magnanimous-ness. Magnaninosity? Whatever! You see, instead of killing the little girl (the way ~Sooga~ said they should), he decided to raise her as his very own. His Precious Baby Girl.
And look how well that turned out! She's activating the Divine Beasts that are programmed to be on their side. The Goddess power nonsense isn't an issue anymore. The Calamity is going to come and finally the Yiga will have their revenge and their freedom.

Summary
There’s no such thing as a female soldier.
Link knows this—it’s been ingrained into her for years. Yet, she still practices her swings out in the forest, away from her family’s eyes, in hopes that one day, she’ll get her chance. She can’t live like this forever, after all.
Hylia answers her in the form of an exchange. Her current life, for her chance at a life worth living. Except that Link has no choice—her heart is ripped out of her chest without a moment of reprieve, and she is tossed by her grief into an entirely unstable unknown. However, it is now all that she has.
As a soldier, Link is revered. She progresses quickly under the pretense that she is a man, and her disguise is good enough to fool even the king, so long as she dare not speak. Eventually, she is assigned to protect Princess Zelda as her personal knight, who is also fooled (as far as she can tell).
Link would like to keep it that way, as well, if only she could stop the ache in her heart. The one that asks for more, more, more. The one that screams yes, yes, yes whenever she gets close to the princess. The one that’s going to get her killed. All for love, though she thought she'd never love again.
