The brunette grabs his boyfriend’s wrist, pulling him back softly.
Mike smiles, surprised when he finds himself in front of Will, “Hey, pretty.”
His words get muffled by Will’s mouth in an instant.
After half the summer of being a witness to this horrible haircut, Will has come to the conclusion that there is no other solution.

Summary
“Well—and, you know, uh, Will—he’s Jonathan’s little brother—uh… the Byers are all coming this year, so.” Mike shrugs. He doesn’t know how to casually mention Will, and it turns out that when he tries, it’s a stuttering mess.
Lucas squints at him over his soft drink. “The Byers, right. Will, that’s your new little brother?”
Mike gives him an unimpressed look. Will is not Mike’s brother—he’s just Mike’s Will. The misunderstanding rings in Mike’s ears. It’s a new experience of creative subtle torture. People can’t know. Mike can’t tell anyone, can’t show Will off as his, can’t mark and claim him for everyone to see. He wants everyone to know. He wishes they all could.
Mike squints back at Lucas. He already knows he’s going to fuck this up. It’s too late now. He laughs once half-heartedly.
Mike navigates his possessiveness over Will while simultaneously keeping their affair covert. It's difficult when he wishes it didn’t have to be a secret.
