Summary
Evelyn Buckley had never felt like Evelyn Buckley.
It was like that name was every conation of the woman she did not want to be. Boisterous, difficult, cruel. The words that sung Evelyn to sleep each night on repeat, loudly and violently. She couldn't shake the way that name haunted, and she couldn't explain the way it made her hollow either.
'Cause no matter what was staring back in that moment, once the comforter was pulled up to her chin and the lights were abandoned, those voices returned. She can stare at herself in the mirror as much as she liked - it wouldn't change that when she went to sleep, she'll always be Evelyn.

OR IN WHICH, Evan Buckley was in fact a girl, with MRKH syndrome.
AND, there might be a female Eddie Diaz, with religious trauma. -

Summary
𝙄𝙉 𝙒𝙃𝙄𝘾𝙃; the Buckley family tree is built on the foundations of seeded secrets and tormented truths, living in the environment that never was made to grow.
The root of their tree was nothing but toxic, scrapping at the bark, begging to be let out. Maddie, Maxine and Evan suffocated for years, those seeds seeping into every crescent that London had to offer. They didn't have lives, not really. Everything was tainted by everything that came before them.
Only when they move across the world, cutting themselves from the line that held them together so tightly - that those branches really did start to feel like they could grow.
And maybe 118 wasn’t perfect, but to the three of them, it might as well be.
(Aka I made the Buckleys British, gave them a younger sister. And wayyyy more trauma)

Summary
The smart thing to do would be to not press the button of a glowing object belonging to a 20 year old prodigy working at NASA on a top secret project but unfortunately for everyone, Evan Buckley wasn't the smartest. Eddie swore loudly as Buck pressed it and his body itched as a sharp vibration went through the air.
...
It all started with a simple but not so simple car accident
simple in the fact that it flipped
not so simple in the fact that there was no other cars on the road and the road was nice and smooth and the only thing that seemed to be out of the ordinary was a glowing object that Chimney pulled from the car

Summary
The thing about Buck and chronic pain is that it doesn't start with the ladder truck. Sure, the bombing makes his leg worse, but—
It starts with showers, and the way his arms sometimes ache too much to clean himself properly. It starts with stairs, and how they make his heartbeat thud in his ears to the point of nausea. It starts with supplements, and how many of them he takes in hopes that they’ll make up for some unknown deficiency and fix it all. It starts with the continuous disappointment when none of them do shit.
The thing about Buck and chronic pain is that it starts before he even really knows what it is, and it never stops.
Or: Buck, Eddie, and an exploration of undiagnosed chronic illness.
