“You were at the bar,” Eddie adds, confused and cold and not altogether convinced that this isn’t some sort of twisted mirage. Maybe he fell over on the way here, and is currently passed out in a random alleyway in downtown Nashville while Buck fucks a beautiful woman in a bar bathroom.
He wants to sink down to the floor with Buck, lean against the door with him until their bodies are pressed together from shoulder to foot, knock his boots against Buck’s just so he laughs and pokes at Eddie’s middle with gentle, teasing fingertips.
“I left,” Buck explains, unhelpfully.

It’s so intimate that Buck is dizzy with it. Evan. No one calls him Evan. He didn’t think he wanted anyone to call him Evan anymore until the first time he heard the name fall from Tommy’s lips; effortlessly, delicately, with no baggage or scolding or expectations. From Tommy, his name sounds light; weightless. Just Evan, like it’s that simple. Just Evan, like it’s a nice thing to call someone.

Summary
It happens fast and without precedent. Something cute happens between the main characters in the movie and Buck turns to smile at Tommy. Tommy smiles back and leans in for what Eddie thinks was supposed to be a quick peck but, almost like they can’t help it—like they forget they’re not supposed to—one peck turns into two quickly turns into full-on making out.
Eddie watches as they get a little lost in each other’s mouths. Maybe he should be uncomfortable—that would be a normal reaction to two of your friends making out less than two feet away from you—but Eddie just feels hot all over. He doesn’t say anything, doesn’t remind them of his presence. Helplessly, desperately, he just watches.

The shattering sound of plates erupted in the air like a crack of thunder and Eddie’s gaze shot up from his phone. Something was wrong. It was a hair thin trigger that had been switched the moment he caught sight of his boyfriend and the whole world could’ve stopped for all Eddie knew. Buck was staring down at his hands, breathing way too fast, and drowning in some kind of panic that only he could see.
“Eddie?” Carla called. “Is everything all right?”
Something must have shown on his face if she took the phone away from Christopher.
“My hands won’t work,” Buck said so quietly.
