Summary
After everything that they had been through together, Will Byers is sure one thing remains unchanged: his feelings for Mike Wheeler are one-sided. Though he's living in the Wheelers' basement, he tries his best to get over Mike and fully accept himself with the help of Robin Buckley. Mike, meanwhile, is struggling with emotions he doesn't yet understand and a twisting feeling in his stomach at the thought of Will and Robin getting close so quickly. Will raises his eyebrows. “Is that why you came in here?” he repeats, looking back down at the blue flannel. “To ask me about the weather in Lenora?”
“Kind of,” Mike says, and then, “well no, not about the weather specifically. I just– I wanted to talk to you.”
“Oh.” And Will looks a lot more surprised at this, actually, than the idea that Mike might have just wanted to come to his room to make small talk about unseasonably frigid California winters. “Okay. What about?”
“Anything.” The response is embarrassingly immediate. “Everything. I don’t know. I missed you.”
Hawkins, 1986. The world is ending, there are too many people in Mike's house, and to top it all off, he and Will have some things to talk through.

It rolls, it rolls, it rolls, Will is clenching his hands into fists so tight his knuckles are white, bracing himself, preparing himself.
He’s so focused on steadying his breathing, on wrapping his heart in a guard of barbed wire before the blow lands, that he doesn’t quite see the number on the dice.
Mike lets out a shaky breath next to him. “It’s a seven.”
Will runs through the list in his head. Three times, before it clicks. He thinks he might throw up.
“C’mon, Wheeler. Don’t keep us waiting,” Max teases, and Will finally catches the satisfied gleam in her eyes.
A 20. He gets twenty minutes locked in a linen closet with Mike.
Two years ago, he would have been jumping for joy.
But Mike won’t even look at him.

Summary
“Guys, Mike’s not like me, he just can’t name characters.” They both give him a pointed look, clearly not believing a word. “I’m serious, every character is a reference to someone we know.”
“Are they now?” Dustin raises an eyebrow at him.
“Yes!” Will is perhaps a bit exasperated, “Stephen and Jay are clearly Steve and Robin, and James is Hopper,” at the blank look they give him, he clarifies, “his first name is Jim.”
This somehow only makes Lucas seem more unimpressed, “okay, but you do see how that’s more suspicious right?”
“What? That Mike can’t come up with names?”
“No,” Lucas shakes his head and clasps Will in the shoulder, “that the first name Mike thought to cannibalize when coming up with a boyfriend for you was his own”.The party grows closer after Will moves in with the Wheelers, picking up D&D again. It all goes well until Mike introduces a new character, Sir. Gabriel Whepler, whose sole purpose seems to be flirting with Will.
