Susie began to smile, trying to hold back laughter. She was successful for the most part, but a few snickers managed to escape her mouth. Kris keenly watched her as she bent down, gathered snow between her fingertips, and compacted it into a tight sphere. Before they had registered the implications of her creation, the snowball had already hit their face, splitting into loose chunks of ice crystal. Some snow remained caked on their nose, and some had melted into their bangs, but the majority had fallen down their coat, soaking their shirt.
Stunned, Kris let out a sharp exhale and grinned. This time, it reached their eyes. -
