In response, the suit folds open, and Tony Stark steps out.
He looks exactly how she feels, and for a moment Reuben wants to laugh, or hug him, or cry. But it passes, and she just stands there. She knows, as much as she hates to admit it, that they're basically one and the same. Same eyes, same taste in music, same cynical view of pretty much everything. Same refusal to back down from anything that they both use as a coping mechanism to mask the consistent guilt and shame.

Tony Stark's relationship with his eldest daughter is complicated, and the accords have only made things more difficult for the winged teen. Now she has to uncomplicate things.

Summary
Tony can remember the exact date and time at which Piper Parker walked into his workshop with a different energy.
“What’s up kid?”.
Her eyes flicked up to meet his as if she’d barely registered his presence, before pulling the corners of her lips into an uneasy smile, “Nothing’s up, everything’s great.. how was your day?”.
Tony narrows his eyes, “Don’t deflect, you’re acting weird. Tell me what’s wrong”.
“Nothing’s wrong, Mr Stark, I just had a long day”. Her arms wrapped around her stomach in a self-soothing gesture, Tony could tell she wanted to lift her knees up to her chest and rock like she tends to do when she’s overwhelmed.
“Where are you hurt?”.
Piper frowns, her head tilting a little to the right, “What?”.
“Come on squirt, tell me now so we can sort it”.
“I’m not hurt”, she looks so sincere that Tony believes her for a moment, but he’s dealt with this situation too many times.
“If you won’t tell me I’ll just ask Friday”.
“I’m not hurt, I promise… I had a fight with Ben”.

Summary
They had a funeral and everything, sunflowers littering the church because Pepper insisted that Mila would’ve wanted a bright funeral, sunshine and smiles and songs which urged everybody to celebrate the light she radiated during life. It rained throughout the whole ceremony. As Tony watched soil sprinkle onto the empty casket like sarcastic confetti, he couldn’t help but think to himself that it doesn’t matter what Mila wants, she’s gone.
Except he could swear that she’s stood in the lobby of Avengers Tower, not even ten feet away from him, shivering and soaked to the bone.
