Summary
"Marisol does a double-take when her eyes land on his, and he knows his own expression matches her surprise.
He hasn’t seen her since their award ceremony, mere days before everything went to shit. After walking in on her boyfriend and a woman who looked exactly like his late wife, Buck kind of figured that he’d never see her again, let alone on Eddie’s front porch.
Oh yeah, did he forget to mention that he bought Eddie’s house when his friend put it on the market? It was really easy, honestly. He just called the realtor Eddie was using and closed on it before it even had a sign out front."
Or: Months after Eddie moves to Texas to be with his son, a knock on Buck's front door shakes things up

Summary
There are a few spam e-mails at the top, and he feels a familiar spike of annoyance at the sight - he never signed up to receive these stupid advertisement emails, why does he have to be the one to go through and unsubscribe to all of them? It’s stupid, that’s all he’s saying - as well as a few texts from the 118-group chat, somebody trying to get a day off, but at the bottom, there’s a text that came in 23 minutes ago that makes his stomach fall to his ass and static buzz in his ears.
Christopher: Missed Call
Christopher: Dad, I thjnk somethngs wrng
Christopher: Dad pleas
He knows his son is hardly one to take the time to spell everything out when he could use simple acronyms, but this isn’t that. These are misspellings, and the lack of emojis - from the kid who once spoke to him solely in the little suckers while he was on shift one day - has him immediately pulling up his son’s contact information and hitting dial, chewing on his inner cheek as he waits for the call to connect.
Or: As Eddie is debating his move to Texas, a few texts from his son in the middle of the day set him on a course to getting everything he's been wanting.

Summary
“Asked me if I was the Chinese food delivery guy on my first day.” Chim contributed in a whisper, like he was afraid Buck might wake up and hear. Maybe he felt disloyal admitting it now. It was no secret to anyone paying attention how much Chim loved Buck, even if he often pretended to be exasperated with him.
Hen nodded solemnly. “One of the many people who wouldn’t even acknowledge me when I started.”
It was news to Eddie, and apparently Ravi too, but not Cap, who resolutely stared down at the table in front of him, shaking his head.
“Oh, so he fucking sucks.” Ravi contributed casually, never one to pull punches with his thoughts.
No one responded, but the agreement was in the air.

Summary
Here's what Evan believes: if someone can do something that other people can't, if they offer some unique and special service to the world, they should do that. They have an obligation to use whatever skills they have, ideally to help people. It's just the right thing to do.
And the one thing that Evan can do that almost no one else can is see ghosts.
(The 118 are on a ghost-hunting TV show. Buck's the only one who knows ghosts are real.)

Summary
“He baby-trapped you,” the man said with a misplaced confidence that was almost impressive, “that’s fucked up, man.”
Buck blinked. Then blinked again. Then, “Uh... no. No, that’s not—”
“Shut it, Benji, that’s not what happened,” the other robber scowled, no longer trying to pretend he wasn’t eavesdropping. “They’re both dudes. A dude can’t baby-trap another dude.”
“Of course they can. Equal rights and shit! That’s what the parades are for.”
---
There's a hostage situation at the bank and Buck is forced to reevaluate his relationship with Eddie (and vice versa).
