“Hi,” he said, voice relieved and quiet, “how’re you feeling?”
Han wanted to answer - he found himself wanting to respond positively if only to ease the troubled look in the man’s kind eyes - but the only thing that left his throat was a squeak.
The man scoffed good naturedly, and ducked his head. He pressed his forehead to their joined hands for a moment, as if gathering strength, before he righted himself again.
When he met Han’s eyes, he was crying.
“I’m so glad you’re back,” he whispered as he crumbled, “and I’m sorry it took us so long to get you out.”
