The apartment was quiet. Mornings at Reki’s were never this calm, with his sisters running around, his mom banging pans and pots in the kitchen and his grandma watching TV. Langa loved that chaos. It stopped his mind from wandering. He was too busy laughing and trying not to trip over the twins. That house felt lived in even in the middle of the night. In the apartment, Langa felt mostly… lonely. Although with Reki just a room away, he felt better. Reki made everything better.
or, Langa realizes that maybe all he needs to feel at home is one specific person by his side.

“Hey, Langa,” Reki’s voice seemed incredibly loud even though it was barely above a whisper. “Do you like girls?” The moment the question left his mouth he wanted to take it back. Why did he ask that? He and Langa never talked about girls apart maybe from that one time on their way to the onsen but then they had that moment when Langa didn’t let him fall from his skateboard and Reki kind of forgot about every girl he ever saw…
“Huh…” was Langa’s response.
