Avid lay awake from the same nightmare that often plagued him. A stake in his best friend’s heart, a town, a hauntingly beautiful man, screaming in desperation before a stake was driven into his own heart. The screams—his screams—rang in his ears well after he awoke. He clenched his eyes shut, he was fine.
“Certainties and uncertainties.” He mumbled, holding a hand over his heart, his heart that was beating, why wouldn’t it be, “Certainties, I’m alive. Uncertainties… Why I keep having that nightmare.”
He’d be fine, there was no reason he shouldn’t be. He was alive, he was fine. Elle was in the next room over, she was alive, they were both alive.
