"It was supposed to be us," he erupted, taking a step closer, his eyes somehow filled with both fear and determination all at once. Mikasa felt her mouth fall open in shock, but if he noticed he didn't care as he continued on. "It has always been and will always be us!"

Summary
Her eyes rolled back into her head and she fell to the floor with a loud thud. For a moment, everyone was silent.
Then Dimitri’s vision spotted as fear gripped every inch of his body. He was by her side in half a second as commotion broke out all around the ballroom.
He ignored the shouts and questions as a large lump formed in his throat. All he could do was stare down at Byleth’s beautiful, still face. He could only hear his own heartbeat, only see her, he couldn’t move, couldn’t think logically. Immediately, his mind was going to the worst. How could he have been so stupid? What if she was seriously ill now? Why hadn’t he stopped her sooner?
Then there was a tiny voice in the back of his mind.

It was like the world completely stopped. The slight static noise on the other side of the phone disappeared, the leaves on the tree outside the window stood still all of a sudden, Mafuyu ceased breathing, even Kedama stopped tapping around the kitchen and just stared up at his owner.Cancer. A terminal illness. An illness that, if not treated well and soon enough, would end up leading to Uenoyama’s death and rip Mafuyu away from the person he loved most, pushing him back into the dark hole that he had struggled to climb out of all those months ago.
Booked for gig after gig, and a debut offer within their reach, a successful music career seemed to be the next stop in Uenoyama's future. At least, it was supposed to be, if fate didn't have something else in store for him.
Or, in a cruel twist of fate, Mafuyu is about to lose everything all over again, just when it seemed like he was safe from it.

Langa pushes his board back and forth, the little rumble of the tires filling the late afternoon quiet between them as he takes a deep, audible breath, looks directly at Reki, and nods. “Yes.”
And that’s a surprise. Reki tries not to let it show. “Have you guys been on any dates?”
“Yeah. I mean, I thought they were dates.”
That’s… kind of sweet. Sweet in the way that feels like it's going to make Reki sick. “How have you even had time for that?” he mutters. “You spend all your time with me.”
