Anatoly hunched under the insufficient eve of the shuttered building, seeking shelter to light his cigarette while icy rain dripped into his collar. Cold, stiff fingers fumbled with the zippo more than a few times before it finally sparked. He turned to face the merciless brightness, endless cloud cover diffusing the sunlight across its white expanse; the ice and snow matched the sky, turning to dirty slush in the freezing rain. The monochrome landscape made his head ache.
