Summary
Not all princesses get a happily ever after. First Princess Athanasia de Alger Obelia of the Obelian Empire knew this fact all too well. Her ending was to be executed in front of her father, the emperor, and dozens of nobles, for a crime she did not commit.
Sometimes— she wondered when her tragedy began. If it was when she was framed, or when her half-sister, Jennette, got acknowledged as the Second Princess on their debutante, or when she first met her father at nine, she didn’t know. Or perhaps, if it was all hopeless, and it was all set in stone from the day she was born and the massacre of the Ruby Palace was carried out. It doesn’t matter in the end, because she’ll be facing death either way.
(And, as she, forgotten and tossed aside, breathes her last, the world refuses, and time stops, wails, and regresses, possibly out of pity, but gives a second chance to Princess Athanasia all the same.)
