Summary
One kiss starts it all. Emma Swan's life gets turned upside down after sharing a bed with Regina Mills in the Underworld, or perhaps it's been upside down all this time and the night she spends sleeping beside Regina makes Emma see things clearly for the first time in a long time.
This story follows Emma's journey through life as she questions the meaning of kisses, searches for and finds a new home, grows closer to her family, and discovers that real love doesn't make you feel good one minute and then worthless the next.

They talk for hours, spending the rest of the night in the same position, seated opposite other on the floor.
Or, rather, Henry talks. Regina mostly listens, only occasionally interjecting to ask him a question which invariably eggs him on, teases out some part of his story that he hadn't thought to vocalise. And it's nice, it's great to have someone who just listens like this, but—
“What about you? Don't you have any stories?”
“I'm a dream person, Henry. You haven't forgotten, have you?” Regina reminds him, and he wonders whether dream people are meant to be snarky. He likes it, though.

Running away isn't anything like what you see in the movies. For one, the character doesn't usually bring her son in tow. For another, the story would usually require some sort of romance with the other character.
I.E. Regina Mills.
And just… it isn't like that. There is definitely no romance in the equation and Emma is definitely not in love with Regina Mills.
Or, where Emma runs away and Henry and Regina follow.

‘Is there any reason why you decided to darken my doorway at the middle of the night?’ Regina’s tone is acerbic, as usual, but the dim light in the kitchen has softened her and Emma can’t help but smile.
‘It’s less crowded here,’ she offers. ‘And you make really good coffee.’
‘I do,’ Regina allows.
