“Stay,” Hanbin pleads. “Let’s go to bed, I’ll set the alarm. Shower with me in the morning. Wear my clothes to work, no one will notice.” And if they do, would that be so bad?

School counselor Sung Hanbin has led a lonely life. Exactly two months after his first conversation with Zhang Hao, the new music teacher, he kisses Zhang Hao for the first time.

“You’re welcome to bring people home, too. Just let me know and I’ll give you space,” Jiwoong says.

“That’s not going to be a problem,” Hanbin averts his gaze, suddenly finding the texture of the wall fascinating. He doesn’t know what drives him to admit a secret he hasn’t even told Matthew, but then the words are spilling out of him before his brain can catch up. “I haven’t been in a relationship since college and that’s probably not going to change any time soon.”

    “Bad breakup?” Jiwoong surmises.

That’s one hell of an understatement. Hanbin’s smile is rueful as he says, “Bad enough that I haven’t been able to date anyone since. Everyone around me is happily taken or engaged, and here I am still hung up on someone from six years ago.”

Or, in the six years since Hanbin ripped his heart out of his own chest and watched Hao break it into pieces, he's dreamt of different ways their story could've ended and countless circumstances under which they might meet again. He just wasn't expecting the reality to be finding Hao all these years later as his new roommate's fuckbuddy.

It would not happen. Not ever. Not with the way they always fight, nor the way Haitham subtly knocks his ego down a peg, nor the way Haitham ignores his presence altogether when he doesn't feel like entertaining Kaveh’s whims. It’s not the actions of a man in love. Kaveh would know. He’s been in love for years.

He’d only just recently accepted it, but it is true, undeniably so, and a sick sort of dread had crept up his stomach ever since he figured it out. Not the fluttering butterflies of an innocent crush, but the weight of knowledge that can never be shared.

Boundaries. He reminds himself. Essential for a healthy bond.

Kaveh starts coughing up Padisarah petals just as his life starts turning around—of course this would happen, with his luck.

    Summary

A lack of communication, a misplaced suspicion, and two Akasha terminals mixed with a drunken tinkering and nosy Kshahrewar architect create an accidental problem about to wreak absolute havoc upon Alhaitham and Kaveh's lives.

Little did Kaveh realize, he managed to create a link between the two devices. And not simply one to transfer data. Oh, no. It was far deeper of a connection than that.

A junior's repressed intense sexual desires, deliberate miscommunication, and a senior's priorly trampled feelings all eventually become known in the worst ways.

After all, the risks of the Akasha could be worsened with tampering. It was a device that worked directly on the brain.

And Kaveh had just unknowingly linked Alhaitham and his own Akashas, and minds, together in a way that was about to be absolute torture to their already turbulent relationship.
