But the Little Palace Mistress is slated to marry her Sect's Head Disciple, a man chosen and favoured by her father—the Little Palace Mistress is slated for many things, at her father's command.
For three nights in a row, she meets this man who is charming and beautiful. On the third night, she decides to don revealing pink robes. Some part of her assumes she should, that he will find her more appealing this way.
But, "You need not change for this lord, little one," he says.
He does not know her title, her name, her place.
She does not know these things about him, either.
"You are a lord?" she asks, though she is not surprised.
He simply smiles, eyes bright.
