   Summary

   Albuquerque makes a disgustingly beautiful first impression: the sky as big and curved and blue as he’s always heard it can be, streaked with paintbrush clouds. Distant mountains rise from the impossibly flat land like slumbering lizards, their skin mottled and cracked beneath the blistering desert sun.
