Jimmy Mcgill, an inexperienced farmhand who hopes to become a fully fleshed cowboy one day, convinces his brother Chuck to take a journey up the Chisholm Trail after a miserable few seasons on the land their parents left them when they died. “You know why I didn’t take the job? Because it’s too small.” The only one of two men escalating the situation continued to get in the other’s face, “I don’t CARE about it. It’s a bacterium, it’s nothing to me!” Despite getting more saliva spattered on his face, Howard still made no move to back down from Jimmy’s tirade. “But do you know what I do care about, Howard? I care about how you reek so pungently of helplessness to the point I just can’t seem to cleanse your sorry little stink from my goddamned divine actuality!”
At this point, Howard realized he once again found himself in the better position of the two, with the other man’s back against the door. He could tell he had also just realized it as well, the way he faltered ever so slightly at the others minor shift in demeanor.
“Jimmy, just what is your goal here? Today, tomorrow; for me, for you. What is it? Because I don’t know. Do you know?” The spitfire string of questions only added to Jimmy’s disorientation at the sudden switch of power. He looked him up and down, taking a moment to think before his beet-red face cracked into a shit eating grin.
“Hit me.”
