“How many fucking times do I have to have Bailey call me and tell me that you’re so shitfaced you can’t stand up properly enough to call for an Uber,” Tommy argues back at him as they pull out onto the road. He dares a glare over at Evan, making it clear that he's less than happy about the predicament too.
“So fucking call Eddie,” Evan bites back. “Last I checked, I’m not your problem anymore. In fact, you didn’t want me to be your problem.”

Summary
Buck felt numb as he listened to the words coming out of Tommy’s mouth. It was like he was paralyzed by the icy tendrils of shock that were flooding his veins. Tommy was breaking up with him. Buck had poured out his entire heart and laid their future out in front of him, and Tommy was walking away from it. He realized in the split second that Tommy reached for the door that he had a couple of choices here. He could stay frozen in place and watch Tommy go. Or he could stand the fuck up and stop the love of his life from walking out that door.
No one had ever accused him of letting things go easily.

“What are you doing up so early?” Buck asks.
“I woke up and thought about breakfast and then I couldn’t go back to sleep ‘cause I was hungry,” she explains.
“What about pancakes instead?” Buck offers. His daughter leaves the box of cereal behind in favor of wrapping herself tighter around her dad. Buck places her in her high chair before pushing it up against the kitchen island.
“I get to help?” There’s such brightness in the way she looks up at Buck that he can’t help but grin back down at her.
“Of course you do!"
Or Buck makes breakfast with his daughter while his husband sleeps away a night shift and his life is perfect.

Evan’s voice is small, tight with fear, and it makes Tommy want to throw up. The hallway is dim, but he knows it’s already too late. Knows Evan has already seen his eyes glow at the end of the hall, his hunched form still perfectly visible. Tommy turns his head away, shame coiling hotly in his gut. He opens his mouth, forcing himself to speak around the prolonged teeth. His gums itch with the urge to bite.
“You need to— You need to go,” he grits out.

“Yeah,” Tommy says, clearing his throat against the slight tickle. “I’m okay. Think I’ve just got a small cold coming on or something.”
Evan frowns and feels his forehead. “You don’t feel warm.”
“It’s okay,” Tommy assures him. “It’s probably nothing.”
“Okay,” Evan says eyeing him a little skeptically. “You’d tell me if it wasn’t?”
“Sure,” Tommy answers, avoiding Evan’s eyes as he takes another sip.

He was asleep but grimacing. The laptop was still in his lap and the arm, which he was meant to keep straight, was slightly curled up toward his body.
With a sigh, he got up and made his way over to his boyfriend. He placed his hand on his injured shoulder, carefully feeling around as Evan let out another groan.
”Shh,” he hushed him, hoping that he’d stay asleep.
