Summary
Many heads turned as Derek Hale entered the busy marketplace. It was rare to see a were here and the villagers were curious. The crowded, smelly, loud city center was used mainly by humans, fae, and magic practitioners to sell and trade their wares. The Hale pack was as large as it was wealthy and they had no need to haggle with vendors but Derek wasn’t here to get a good deal on some spices. He reread the note emissary Deaton gave him “STILES – potion to stop infection of the blood”. He scanned the numerous storefronts until he saw one that plainly said “STILES” in faded red letters. That was the mage Deaton thought would be able to help his brother’s condition. Derek and all of the Hales actually, have heard rumors about Stiles for a few years now; about how he came into his power so young, about how powerful he is, about how he occasionally uses unorthodox methods that other magic users frown upon. But the Hales generally stay away from magic, aside from the pack's emissary, werewolves and magic get along as well as wolves and foxes.

Derek felt like a failure of a dragon. His hoard was pathetic. It wasn’t that he couldn’t hoard more valuable items that what he has; it’s that he doesn’t want to. He always feels compelled to collect his strange little baubles and scraps of paper and he doesn’t know why.

“Stop talking right now,” Stiles sighs, shaking his head. “I can’t believe I still want to kiss you after that,” he says, pulling Derek in by his coat. “This is making me rethink everything."
“I’ll never watch them again,” Derek promises, and Stiles laughs against his mouth.
Or: Stiles is a starting pitcher for the NY Mets when he meets and falls in love with Derek. Derek doesn’t know.

“How much did you use?” Geralt growls, teeth finding a new home in Jaskier’s neck.
Jaskier hums happily and tips his head to the other side so Geralt can peruse the real estate over there, too.
“Concentrate, Jaskier! How much did you use?” Water sloshes over the sides of the tub as Geralt hoists him halfway out, then pulls him back down so they’re sitting flush, Jaskier’s thighs thrown wide over Geralt’s.
“Hm,” Jaskier says, a little dreamily. He gestures at the empty bottle on the floor. “How much was in there?”
Geralt swears in what sounds like Elder tongue.

Stiles crosses it off as well, then perks up. “Ooh! I know! What about that one song from Tangled, where they’re sitting in the boat in the lake, and all those lanterns are floating around them?”
“I’m not figure skating to Disney in the Olympics, Stiles.”

Almost all of Derek's family died in a house-fire while he was away, serving in WWII. He comes back to Fairbanks after the war in search of the Beta his uncle turned right before the end, hoping to re-build his pack. Nothing goes as planned.
