Summary
Four years after fleeing the toxic debris of high society London and the wreckage of a marriage built on hypocrisies and lies, Benedict Bridgerton has finally found peace. Tucked away in a buzzing Shoreditch rental complex—surrounded by a chaotic, fiercely protective family of neighbors like the Mondriches, the Crabtrees, and a pub owner who treats kids like royalty—he’s built a safe, real life for himself and his daughter, Becca. Just messy apartments, neighborhood block parties, and a quiet promise that no woman will ever break his daughter's heart again.
Because after a parade of terrible dates (and a nightmare of an ex-wife), Benedict instituted a non-negotiable house rule: every woman he dates must pass the Rebecca Bridgerton test.
It is a test that is measured entirely by how women treat his daughter. Does she crouch down to her eye level? Does she show genuine patience when Becca's medical appointments run long? Is she kind when things get messy?
So far... not a single person has passed.

Summary
Sophie knows she should not. She knows she should release his lips, she knows she should step out of his arms and leave his bedroom immediately. She knows she should be worrying about her position here and not thinking about the tempting idea of repeating what happened last night.
She is well aware of everything she should be doing right now, but goddamn if she wants to be selfish one more time. So without letting herself think about it too much, she does the one thing she absolutely should not be doing right now.

For a time, they're both able to manage the connection.
