He hated how often he replayed it. Not because he didn’t understand it anymore, but because he did. Because the more time passed, the more he started to realize that the weight of it hadn’t been in the words themselves, but in what they meant underneath them. What Ilya had actually been saying without needing to explain it.
That he had already chosen this. Already risked more than Shane had ever asked him to. Already stepped further into something Shane hadn’t fully been ready to name out loud.
