    It was a split second of hesitation, & it changed everything. A split second of heartache, nostalgia, longing. It was enough for the way Viktor’s eyes fluttered open to completely disarm Jayce, he dropped the mercury hammer before falling to his knees. Silent tears streamed down his cheeks as Viktor touched the ground, taking a few steps closer to Jayce where he knelt.

    “Jayce? What…what has happened to you?”

    Jayce fails. He returns to Viktor in the commune, & he fails. Viktor accepts him with open arms, quickly tangling together, becoming unable to be pulled apart again. Jayce helps Viktor with this persistent ache he's had, & succeeds in becoming exactly what Viktor needs.

    “You really believe it’s me?” He couldn’t keep the hope out of his voice, like this arrangement was now permanent.

    “We study the intersection of science and magic together for a living, why shouldn’t you be Jayce Talis?”

    Jayce gets sent back and promises not to fail, but he arrives at the wrong moment in time. He ends up in the academy and runs into Viktor, who is just three years into their tenure working together. Who could blame him for breaking down? Or, s2 Jayce meets s1 Viktor and they both do some soul-baring.

    "Do you like it?" Viktor asks, smoothly, and Jayce buries his face against Viktor's throat, mouth open as it brushes over metallic tendons and skin.

    "Yeah, Vik," he breathes, "You're stronger than me like this..." Of course he likes it, he really likes it. His astral form solidifies completely into something as close to physical as is possible in this place. Something naked and vulnerable and hungry. He hums softly against Viktor's throat, pressing kisses along any part he can reach. Viktor cradles him close, a low purr building in his chest with each passing moment.

    "Wait."

    Jayce goes still.

    "Let me set you down. There is something I wish to show you."

    Or: Jayce and Viktor have sex in the Hexzone.
