With a huff, you extricated yourself from his clinging grasp. “If you want to figure it out on your own, be my guest.” You went to push off the ice with your skates to regain your headstart from earlier, when a firm tug at your sleeve made you glance over your shoulder.
Sylus’ much bigger body tipped towards you, his head farther ahead than the rest of him. You caught a glimpse of wide eyes and a clenched jaw before his other hand landed on your shoulder, heavily, and he pasted himself to your front to put a stop to his staggering approach.
Bending your legs at the knees, you caught him. It was hard to contain your grin as you cocked your head back to peer at his face.
He kept it averted…but you could see the edge of his ear poking out from under the hat, and it matched the streaks of red climbing up his neck where the standing collar of his coat didn’t cover all skin.
You drag Sylus out onto the ice rink, hoping to see him anything but composed and confident for once in his life...
