When Robert’s twenty he spends Christmas with a girl called Erica and her family. They’ve been seeing each other for a couple months at this point, which mostly means shagging at house parties and falling asleep on the sofa watching old episodes of M*A*S*H, but he likes her well enough. She wears cheap vanilla body spray and tastes like fake strawberry lip balm and spearmint gum, and when she finds out he isn’t going back to Yorkshire she invites him over, says it isn’t anything fancy but her cousins bring their boyfriends so no one will mind.
(It’s the first time she’s called him her boyfriend.
Robert spent the Christmas before curled up on his shitty kitchen floor, drinking the bottle of wine he’d won in a pub raffle and staring at the landline on the wall, wishing and hoping and dreading for it to ring. It hadn’t, and he’d fallen asleep with the taste of salt and Burgundy on his tongue.
He says yes immediately.)

They’re down three members, because Doug and Ronnie graduated, and Frank’s been noncommittal since managing to drag himself out of bed, so it’s not like Eddie can tell Robin to get lost.
It’s not like he wants to, either, which is a thing, because Robin hates metal, but is apparently some kind of music savant. She moans about callouses and her fingers bleeding, but the fucking voice on her, Christ. It only takes her to mid-September to learn a good chunk of their set list. Jeff looks at her like she’s hung the moon. She keeps trying to convince them to learn “Our Lips Are Sealed.” She refuses to join Hellfire. She’s always late to practice because of marching band, and some time in the beginning of October Steve Harrington drops her off.

Summary
Matty presses his face into Vic’s shoulder, his arms around her torso bringing her closer as he tries to gather himself. She smells like lavender and fresh air, a scent that’s so unequivocally her that it lights him up again, which only makes everything worse as Amy’s face is still there when he closes his eyes.
He should be pulling away, but he can’t, needing the comfort her embrace provides too much. She’s the only person he wants to be with right now, despite all the messy feelings that accompany all of their interactions these days. Maybe what he’s feeling isn’t even real, and all of this is just his grieving mind projecting his love for Amy onto Victoria, so it has somewhere to go.
Matty and Victoria find comfort in each other.

Dad is 71, early stage Parkinson’s disease, broke his hip 6 weeks ago. No signs of cognitive decline; mostly needs help with household tasks (cooking, light cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping), getting dressed, showering, changing cat litter/general cat care, getting to and from appointments.
Please know what you are getting into; Dad is physically more or less in good health but awful at accepting his limitations, unnecessarily mean, generally uncooperative, and largely nocturnal. Imagine yourself caring for a feral raccoon that is convinced it’s going to write another book, then subtract everything that is cute about raccoons.
$20/hour, roughly 4 hours a day. Must be able to pass a background check and lift 50 lbs. Patience of a saint not required but preferred.- Language:
