The first thing Sam thinks is that Jay doesn’t usually write him letters. This is because he’s too busy. And Sam gets it, he does. When Jay wasn’t too mad at him to speak kindly he’d been too busy trying to be Sam. Except that wasn’t really true, was it? Because Jay hadn’t been trying to be Sam, Jay had been trying to be Sam’s approximation of Daddy. He didn’t want to think about it too much.
The second thing Sam thinks is that either the postal service really fucked up this envelope or Jay strangled it with his own two hands….it’s probably the latter. Which means that he’ll be getting an earful from his little brother. He wonders what he could have done to piss Jay off from a distance with minimal contact? Or what if it was the distance and minimal contact that was the problem. Jay had asked for that after they’d had that bonding moment with the fire….he never could seem to please the family these days.Bookmarked by fleffeleffle
