Ferran siempre había sido un hombre muy seguro de su fe. Desde muy pequeño le habían enseñado la importancia que tenía tener valores cristianos y vivir una vida correcta bajo los ojos de Dios. Para él siempre había sido muy reconfortante pensar que había alguien ahí arriba que tenía un plan para él y que él sólo se tenía que ceñir a seguir sus normas y ser un buen chico.
Sabía que había cosas que eran pecado. Sabía que había pecados más grandes que otros también pero que siempre que te arrepintieras y te alejaras de la tentación Dios te perdonaría. Todo eso tenía mucho sentido para él y era una cosa que nunca le había costado cumplir, hasta que llegó Pedri.

Ferran accidentally lets slip on a popular spanish TV show just how much he misses his ex-teammate Pedri.

Ferrán se ha ido al PSG. Pedri se ha quedado en el Barça.
Lo que ninguno de los dos esperaba era descubrir que poner kilómetros de por medio no iba a solucionar absolutamente nada.
Pedri no entiende por qué siente que le han arrancado el corazón del pecho desde que su mejor amigo se fue. Ferrán, en cambio, lleva demasiado tiempo sabiendo exactamente por qué.
Ahora sus caminos vuelven a cruzarse y, con ellos, todas las cosas que nunca se dijeron: los celos, las peleas, las miradas demasiado largas y una tensión que ninguno de los dos sabe cómo manejar.
Porque quizá el problema nunca fue que Ferrán se fuera.
Quizá fue todo lo que dejaron sin decir antes de hacerlo.

A Ferran se le escapa en un conocido programa de televisión lo mucho que echa de menos a Pedri. A Pedri esto no le hace ninguna gracia y decide presentarse en Madrid un día antes del primer entrenamiento de la selección a decirle cuatro cosas. Lo que ninguno de los dos esperaba es que se acabaran diciendo cosas de las que los dos llevaban huyendo años.

"What if you end up hating me?" The question was supposed to come out as a joke, but of course Ferran truly thought that, the words tumbling out of his mouth in an earnest tone.
"I don't think I could ever hate you, Ferran," Pedri replied.
"Oh," it was all he could say to that because what he fuck was he supposed to say, really? Oh, me neither? I was in love with you and I didn't know that I was until it was too late? Maybe just the first part of the sentence would work, actually, he thought. "Me neither."
Ferran and Pedri knew each other as kids, but didn't hear from each other in years. A text message in the middle of the night changes everything.

Summary
Ferran and Pedri somehow fall into a friends-with-benefits-type relationship after they sleep together following Spain's Euros win. The only problem is Ferran was never made for a friends with benefits relationship, and a year and a half later he has to face the fact that he will have to break it off, no matter how much he has gotten accustommed to treating his best friend like a lover.
