“...What would you do if you weren’t destined to be Chief someday?” Zuko asks, looking up at where the wall meets the ceiling. “Would your life be any different?”
Sokka hums, then sits up. “Not really. Being a warrior was always my thing, so I’d still train the same way and everything, I just wouldn’t study my dad as much.” He rests his elbows on his knees. “I guess… actually… wait. No. I’d move to Kyoshi Island.”
Zuko frowns. “Yeah?”
“Yeah.” He sighs. “I don’t miss her as much as I used to, but… I don’t know. Would’ve been nice to give it an actual shot. Wrong place, wrong time, I guess.”
“Maybe you can try again one day. If it’s meant to be, it’ll come back to you.”
He clears his throat, then quickly asks, “What about you? How would you live your non-Firelord life?”
Zuko catches the deflection, but says nothing. “Definitely live in Ba Sing Se with my uncle. Help him run the tea shop, maybe enroll in the university.”
