Salt doesn't like to think about that horrible year he spent in the Demon World. He doesn't like thinking about that pitch-black cell, that empty cave, and he especially doesn't like thinking about how he sobbed himself to sleep every night.
Lake never visited him that whole year, not once. But that's okay. It's not Lake's fault that he's so friendly. He's not to blame for Salt reading into things that just weren't there, for thinking that they were best friends when they were obviously not.
So, Salt doesn't hold a grudge.
(He absolutely holds a grudge.)
