Summary
The man waved a hand at her from the doorway. “Hi, Donut.”
Princess Donut narrowed her eyes at him.
“Come on, Carl”, Miss Beatrice said, taking his hand and pulling him towards the bedroom. The man nearly stumbled on Princess Donut’s precious Mouse toy that lay on the floor. They both giggled drunkenly. Princess Donut sighed. Another of these kinds of manservants. Princess Donut watched them go, judging harshly.
Carl. She rolled that name around in her mind. Carl.
It was a good enough name, she supposed.
Life through Princess Donut's eyes before the Collapse.

Summary
Astarion wouldn't dare compare Gale’s very clearly lovingly maintained kitchen to a campfire and a chest of pilfered cheese and stale bread. But the feeling of it, the easy companionship, sharing the day’s burden of woes with someone who understands? That's familiar. And that, he didn't even realise he missed. Only now, watching Gale potter around his kitchen and chatter in much the same way he used to potter around the cookpot, Astarion feels… settled.
Maybe even comfortable.
Oh.
Oh dear.
Before he can stand and take his leave, go back to the contract in Calimshan and pretend this embarrassing little episode never happened, Gale sets a goblet down in front of him.
Just in passing. Drops it off on his way to the teapot. Like he thinks nothing of it.
But it's blood. Fresh, too. Pig, if Astarion's nose can be trusted, which obviously it can. He takes a tentative sip. Then downs the rest before Gale has finished pouring his tea.
“It's warm,” Astarion says, nonplussed, staring at the now-empty goblet. It would be beneath his dignity to lick it. He's no starving wretch now. But it is tempting all the same.Bookmarked by flutterpie

Summary
The Absolute may be dead, but the troubles of the Heroes of Baldur's Gate are far from over.
Karlach burns with an infernal fire that threatens to consume her, and Shadowheart struggles to keep the tiefling she's falling for alive. Astarion finds himself bound once more to the shadows, and he meets an enslaved Drow who's found the peace he craves. Gale continues to wrestle with the deadly Netherese orb as it threatens the woman he loves, the bard Mouriana whose painful past is not as distant nor as healed as she had hoped. Halsin's heart struggles to heal as he sees the woman he found himself falling for in their adventures strengthen her bond with the wizard, though hope comes in the unexpected form of a person from Mouri's past.
As the road stretches into Avernus itself, they find that the greatest challenges aren’t found in the monsters they slay, but in the hearts of those who travel beside them. Love, forgiveness, and trust are far more elusive—and dangerous—than any foe they’ve faced.

Summary
Astarion stands at his tent, pretending to pick at his nails, the edge of his dagger gliding harmlessly under the hard nailbed to collect debris though he’s already cleaned them twice now. Any lingering dirt still remaining won’t come out no matter how hard he digs.
Filthy fingertips aside, he glances up quick and catches it again.
That wizard, Gale, staring at him from his own tent across the camp.
At being caught, the wizard startles slightly, eyes going wider as he turns in place and fumbles for something to grab. His clumsy hands land on one of the pointless metal contraptions he has gathered up outside his tent and Astarion watches as he picks it up and examines it a little too closely to be believable.
