this fic is so so top tier. the longing of lost, lost lives, lost childhood, lost persons, lost memories, lost loves. and the wanting. the wanting to be seen, to be found, to be a home. it was painful, it was melancholic, sad and sorrowful. i loved it. read while listening to ceilings by lizzy mcalphine on my daily work commute for 5 days straight.

“I’m sorry,” Juwon doesn’t look at him. His eyes are fixed on the metallic surface of the table.
“For what?” Dongsik’s voice starts to rise, and Jae-yi tries to speak up but she doesn’t seem to know what exactly she’s supposed to say right now.
Juwon can’t answer him. He can’t, he doesn’t know. He wants to say everything because that’s the only truth but everything means saying sorry for how he put his life on the line for Dongsik, and he doesn’t think he can ever be sorry for that.
“Han Juwon, you…” Dongsik’s voice is growing smaller, and it is wavering, trembling in the hollowness of his throat. “Why do you keep getting hurt lately?”

my god this was so hard to read. the emotions were raw, they were painful as if i experienced them myself. the unspoken longing killed me. author is very good at writing. was listening to repeat until death by novo amor, gutted me to the core.

The house had yellow walls and pale wood trim in all the rooms. The floors were linoleum, except the bathroom and the kitchen which had tile. Juwon cleaned the bathroom sink and the mirror every day with wipes, even though Dongsik didn’t leave much to clean. He only shaved every other day at most, and would rub raspily at his chin when his stubble got too long. Juwon would have hated the sound if it was anyone else. Instead he found the soft scratchy noise inoffensive, like the whir of wheels on an exercise bike.
Juwon moves in unannounced.
