this fic is so so top tier. the longing of lost, lost lives, lost childhood, lost persons, lost memories, lost loves. and the wanting. the wanting to be seen, to be found, to be a home. it was painful, it was melancholic, sad and sorrowful. i loved it. read while listening to ceilings by lizzy mcalphine on my daily work commute for 5 days straight.

But it’s the twinkle in those curving eyes that feels the most surreal, a gut punch into a past that feels a lifetime ago from now, on the porch of Dong-sik’s old family home.

“I’m sorry,” Juwon doesn’t look at him. His eyes are fixed on the metallic surface of the table.
“For what?” Dongsik’s voice starts to rise, and Jae-yi tries to speak up but she doesn’t seem to know what exactly she’s supposed to say right now.
Juwon can’t answer him. He can’t, he doesn’t know. He wants to say everything because that’s the only truth but everything means saying sorry for how he put his life on the line for Dongsik, and he doesn’t think he can ever be sorry for that.
“Han Juwon, you…” Dongsik’s voice is growing smaller, and it is wavering, trembling in the hollowness of his throat. “Why do you keep getting hurt lately?”

my god this was so hard to read. the emotions were raw, they were painful as if i experienced them myself. the unspoken longing killed me. author is very good at writing. was listening to repeat until death by novo amor, gutted me to the core.

The house had yellow walls and pale wood trim in all the rooms. The floors were linoleum, except the bathroom and the kitchen which had tile. Juwon cleaned the bathroom sink and the mirror every day with wipes, even though Dongsik didn’t leave much to clean. He only shaved every other day at most, and would rub raspily at his chin when his stubble got too long. Juwon would have hated the sound if it was anyone else. Instead he found the soft scratchy noise inoffensive, like the whir of wheels on an exercise bike.
Juwon moves in unannounced.

oh, this is one beautiful fic. it's quiet in a good way. it's soft, it's tender, and it's soothing. i love the wind being some kind of metaphor for jw's inner feeling that he's not ready to admit to himself yet, as something that guides him in his choices in life. i love ds character. i love that despite ds already knowing jw's feelings, despite his being attentive and perceptive of jw, and despite being tired of always having to wait his entire life, he still waited for jw to decide what he wanted to do with his feelings. the author's writing is absolutely beautiful and poetic. i listened to Snowfall by one heart and reidenshi and wept from the beginning to the end of the fic. i felt like the music really fit the mood and theme of this fic. it's longing and yearning. it's the feeling of finally finding home at the end of a long and dark road. it's the feeling of finally finding the solace you've been looking for. one of my favourite fics.

fk this is so good. i've always loved apocalypse/zombie au. it's short, but the post-apocalyptic world is well-crafted. i wish it was longer, to be honest. i read this before realising who wrote it and fell in love with the writing. after done reading, i found out it's the same author as my other favourite jwds fic. this author's writing is good. the characters are not ooc at all, i can actually imagine the characters living in this universe. read this while listening to solitude by M83. i think the author should have added angst in the tags, though. some may think it's not that angsty, but the author's writing made me cry non-stop from half way to the end of the fic. the author's writing is that good. not a good way to start your day with puffy and bloodshot eyes since i read this at 7 am.
