Erwin turns his head, and kisses his heart. “I love the man that you are, Levi.”
“I…” Erwin has his eye contact now. He feels his cheeks warm. “I know.”
“I wish you did too.”
“…It’s not that easy,” he says ruefully. “I’ve tried. But tonight was just, bad. Stop having a shit over it.”
Erwin huffs softly, almost a chuckle. “I have few options anymore. You won’t let me bring the incident to the Duke’s attention, and you won’t be kinder to yourself.”
“This is fine, but…” He trails off as Erwin raises his head, causing their noses to brush. Levi doesn’t remember when they got so close, close enough to feel Erwin’s breath wash over his face.
When Levi speaks, their lips brush. “Just. Make me forget about it, then.”
Erwin’s eyes light up with renewed purpose. "I see. Very well, Levi.”
OR:
Another visit to Mitras to procure funding for the Survey Corps goes up in smoke for Levi. Erwin shows him where his own priorities lie. And makes it up to him, too.

“Come over.”
His whisper was a ripple of black silk that snaked around his throat.
“I’ll be nice. Promise.”
Those silver eyes danced teasingly, still glowing with the thrum of the crowd’s adoration. Erwin shuddered as a fingertip brushed lightly against his jaw, liquifying his nerves as the hum of the bar disappeared, wholly engulfed by the same dark velvety void that pressed against every inch of his skin.
He swallowed.
“Okay.”

Erwin Smith is a disgrace. Awkward, bookish, and estranged from his family, what he should be doing is focusing on finishing his dissertation. Instead, his thoughts are haunted by a certain dark-haired musician that came sauntering back into his life uninvited - though not entirely unwanted. Levi is unfailingly cruel and cold, and yet Erwin clings to each scrap of warmth tossed his way like a drowning man.What they have isn't love. He knows it, but sometimes...he forgets.
