Daemon Targaryen has 3 rules in order to love:
You must be Valyrian (she is).
You must have a dragon (she does).
You must not be a cunt (she isn't—at least she doesn't think she is).
Yet Alyssa Targaryen knew that her father did not wholly love her. She did not know if it was her brown hair, or her temper, or simply her sex, but The Rogue Prince had never had time for his firstborn daughter.
Alicent Hightower has 3 rules in order to love:
You must be pious (he is not).
You must care for your family (he does not).
You must not be a cunt (he most certainly is).
Aegon knew that his mother abhored him. Knew that she had tried to be caring, as much as the spawn of Otto could be. But he made it too difficult. He was a child who wanted the attention of his father and the warmth of his mother and received neither.
Aegon and Alyssa had never exactly seen eye to eye, even if they were more similar than they thought. It was an accident, really, that they stumbled upon each other. But the solace they found in one another could not be broken once it was forged.

Summary
There are two types of slavery.
Finan had experienced the physical kind; forced to work to the bone, tortured with labour day after day and given no name but his new occupation.
Lyssa was a slave to marriage, to her husband, to the men in her life and she ached for freedom despite knowing that she was stronger than them all; that she could kill them with her sword.
Finding her brother, Uhtred, the Dane-Slayer, was the plan. Finding Finan the Agile was not. In her was a kindness he longed for and him a now physical freedom that she dreamed of. Finan is running from a past and Lyssa, a present.
What could they possibly find in each other that they could not create themselves?
