Summary
When he reaches Alex, he crouches down to his knees, and he focuses on the way the blades just barely cut into the skin on the back of his thighs through his pants rather than the shaking of his hands at his sides.
“Alex?” Henry says, leaning his head down so he can maybe get in eye level with Alex, but Alex keeps his eyes firmly shut and angled down towards the ground, his curls plastered across his sweaty forehead, and it takes everything in Henry not to gently move the hair from his face.
“Alex, hey it’s – it’s Henry. Henry Fox?” Henry tries, this time a little louder, and he cringes at the awkwardness of it all. He thinks Alex must hear him though if the slight wince that rolls through Alex’s body is to go off anything.
Or: Hockey player Alex who gets injured and is back on the ice for the first time since said injury and isn't dealing with it well mentally, and figure skater Henry who comes into the rink one morning and finds Alex keeled over on the ice having a panic attack

Summary
“Are you... are you still attracted to me?” Alex blurts out, and he keeps his eyes locked on the wardrobe in front of him, 'refuses to turn around to see the pity he knows will be lacing Henry’s demeanor like cloyed honey.
It’s quiet for all of a moment and Alex can picture his boyfriend behind him as he hears rather than sees him set his book down on his nightstand before sitting up more, ‘can picture the duvet pooling around his waist.
“Of course I am Alex, what on earth gave you any indication that said otherwise?” Henry asks incredulously
Or: Henry's been ignoring Alex's advances on him for a few weeks now. Alex gets in his head about it. Henry explains what's really going on.
Or: Henry's meds were changed and he's dealing with one of the side effects (sex drive)

Summary
“I’m in love with you!” Henry screams, and Alex can’t tell if the bar goes silent, or if it’s just the static in his ears overpowering the noise in the room as he focuses on what just spilled from Henry’s lips.
He spins around to face a red cheeked Henry.
“Why have you been ignoring me all week?” Alex asks, his voice cracking on the last word, and he has to swallow past the lump in his throat and blink away the tears that have started to finally form.
“Because you kissed me! And you don’t even remember, or - or maybe you do and you’ve just decided to pretend it didn’t happen, and I don’t know which is worse!” Henry yells, his chest heaving with every inhale and exhale, and Alex – well Alex is at a loss for words.
Or: a breakup causes Alex to come to a halting revelation, followed by a drunken kiss with his best friend and a promise he can't keep, causing Henry to pull away from him. It all comes to head in a crowded bar.
Or: (Alex kisses Henry after coming to the realization that he's in love with him, only to completely forget it ever happened the next morning).

Looking back at it now, how he longed for his own bed, he thought maybe his mother wasn’t lazy at all, but maybe her own mind and heart were just simply too heavy for her to lift. He hoped that practice would help his mood lift, and his medication would kick in. He’d be back to being himself. The rink was cold when Shane and he entered, hand in hand, and the loud chatter of his team immediately made a headache bloom behind his eyes.
Ilya is having a bad depression day, but at the end of it all Shane is right there to help him.

Ilya had told him it was okay; that it didn’t make him a bad player to resent the spotlight sometimes, that it didn’t make him a bad teammate to hate the team when they were too loud and too drunk and too physical, that it didn’t make him a bad person to need space to breathe.
