Summary
Irene Jansen planned the perfect murder. Unluckily for her, her accomplice was not so perfect. After the plan changes Irene and Madge struggle to keep up with their once perfect plan as their fall guy escapes from prison, there's a mishap with a trumpet, a *much* too talkative taxi driver and a small time crook after their money. If that wasn't difficult enough, Irene can't help but be transfixed by the bright terracotta shade of lipstick Madge wears.

She’s heard of people whose dominance at work makes them want to submit in their off-hours. High-powered CEOs who pay high-class escorts to whip scars onto their skin, but only the parts that a well-tailored suit will cover. That’s not Gerri; never has been.
She likes power. She needs power. And if power thrills her just as much in the bedroom as it does in the boardroom, well, why should anyone judge her for what she does when she’s off the clock?
Why should she judge herself, for that matter?

“By the way? You look beautiful tonight, Ger,” he says sincerely. It’s one of the things he hates himself for--that he was always making her cringe and roll her eyes and slam her phone down, instead of complimenting her, respecting her wisdom and authority, learning everything she was so patiently trying to pass on to him--just, like, being a fucking person and not a horny gremlin. He doesn’t understand why he couldn’t have done that. It would have been so easy. Maybe things could have ended differently. Maybe they wouldn’t have ended at all.
